Longboat Key is an 11 mile long barrier island off the coast of Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida. It is roughly 50 miles south of Tampa and is considered by many to be one of the nicest places on the west coast of Florida. One drive down the island and you will appreciate the beauty.

The beaches of Longboat Key are underrated. Siesta Key is located just a few miles south by boat. People usually talk about the beauty of Siesta Key beaches. Although the sand on the Longboat Key beaches is not as white or powdery it still considered fabulous my most people’s standards. The great thing about the beaches of Longboat Key is that they are very quiet and peaceful. Most locals head to Siesta Key for their beach fun so if you want a little silence head to Longboat Key.
Sarasota Luxury Homes
If you have the budget to match the cost of the “luxury” market then you have plenty to choose from in Sarasota, Florida. Most homes on good water – beach, bay or canal fall into the luxury category. However, there are some amazing homes on non-waterfront lots as well. The average price of homes on Bird Key, Longboat Key, Casey Key and Siesta Key exceed the average overall prices of Sarasota. Naturally, as they are near the water and beach. Usually, the closer you get to the water the more expensive the land.
Country Club Shores Homes
Located on the south end of Longboat Key is the waterfront community of Country Club Shores. This lovely neighborhood boasts some fabulous homes. Canals line the streets that offer no bridges to bay boating. Residents on the water can hop on their boat and be enjoying the waterways around Sarasota in no time. The homes on the end of the canals overlooking the Sarasota bay are typically valued in the multi-millions. Convenience is a big plus for residents of Country Club Shores. They can be playing golf within a few minutes at the Longboat Key Club, enjoying the beach within a relatively short walk, dining at an outdoor cafe only five minutes away on St. Armands Circle or shopping in one of the quaint shops in downtown Sarasota within a short drive.
