CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A 79-year-old Port Charlotte woman was seriously injured in a crash on El Jobean Road and Toledo Blade Boulevard Thursday afternoon.

An 81-year-old Port Charlotte woman also sustained minor injuries in the crash that involved three SUVs, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The 79-year-old woman was driving her SUV east in the left turn lane on El Jobean, approaching the intersection at Toledo Blade Boulevard. Troopers said she had a yellow flashing arrow traffic signal at the intersection.

The 81-year-old woman was heading west in the right lane of El Jobean with a green traffic signal at the intersection, FHP said. The third SUV involved in the crash was stopped at a red light on Toledo Blade.

The 79-year-old woman turned in front of the 81-year-old woman’s SUV. Troopers confirmed the 79-year-old woman’s SUV was hit and it also hit the front of the third SUV.

No one in the third SUV was injured, according to FHP.
