Wanna Play Some Pickleball??? For Beginners and Intermediate Players
June 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Just a quick note to let all our Members know that now is a great time to start playing Pickleball as we are offering Pickleball Meetups on Thursday evenings at East Naples Community Park. We will review the basic rules and game strategies with anyone who is new to the game and start play by knocking some Pickleballs around for fun then we will play games once everyone is warmed up.
About the Game: Pickleball is a great fun social game that is like a cross between small tennis courts and ping pong. Solid paddles and a wiffle ball are used. Doubles or 2 people per team is what we will play so 4 people make up a game. If you play for one or two hours in this Florida heat, you will be covered in sweat by the time to head for home. So be ready for a great workout while having a blast in Paradise!!! This is a “gender-neutral” game where ladies can kick butt over the guys…. 🙂
Really good paddles can be rented at the park office (the large building on your left as you drive in) for $3 plus your driver’s license. The office closes at 8PM so if you want your license back that night don’t miss closing time. Please post if you have extra paddles to loan out.
Bring ice water to keep cool and a little bug spray might be needed to keep the flying-bear-traps (a.k.a. no-see-ums) at bay.
Post-game plans can be made on the fly for any Pickleballers that want a bite to eat and a little AC with a cold drink.
Check out the Another Day in Paradise Calendar to RSVP-Yes.
*** Here’s a fairly decent Youtube Video that explains the “Kitchen” or Non-Volley Zone . There are also many other videos that explain the basics that will make more sense after you’ve been on the court a couple of times.
Hope to see you there…. 🙂
