PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – A dog was killed after a fire tore through a Port Charlotte home early Friday morning.
Fire crews were called to the home on Edgewater Drive around 3:30 a.m. and found the home in flames, according to the Charlotte County Fire Department.
Rescue crews said three people made it out safely, but the residents’ dog died in the blaze.
The house was deemed unlivable after sustaining fire and smoke damage, according to CCFD. Red Cross was called to help the family find a new place to stay.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
